Threes and Fours

Your child will be prepared for school with help from Holly Springs School!

The three and four-year- old program journey begins with an independent classroom.  These classrooms are organized by centers that not only stimulate cognitive growth but ignite children’s individual creative spirit, as well. Centers are always changing to reflect children’s interests and changing skill levels. Whether they are walking on the moon in dramatic play, building block cities or constructing with clay, our children are encouraged to explore and expand their horizons.

Circle Time

The early childhood curriculum for this age group includes a combination of Math, Science, Language, and Music. Our language program is furthered with the introduction of Phonics. Phonics is introduced using a combination of the Alpha Time® program and the Moncure® Letter People. These tools are foundational for the children as sight words and easy pre-reader words are launched.  Additionally, phonics games, songs, and hands-on activities assist our teachers with letter and word recognition.

Our Curriculum

The Houghton- Mifflin® Preschool Math curriculum supported  with the introduction of more complex patterning, sequencing, number quantity, along with fundamental addition and subtraction. Children work in small groups and one-on-one with the teachers as they implement the coursework. Classrooms use a vast quantity of differentiated materials to execute their lesson plans.

Our science curriculum of More than Magnets and Science Rocks, engages the children in activities such as soap making, learning about how magnets are able to connect, and studying habitats and life cycles.  These themes engage their natural curiosity and stimulate their ever-expanding cognitive development.

We work carefully to ensure that there is a balance between ordered instruction and free play, which we believe to be of educational benefit, so that children still enjoy being children.  We cater much of the play around individual interest, introducing objects that stimulate sensory perceptions and encourage two-way conversation amongst peers.

As Holly Springs School for Early Education, we are proud of the strong relationships we have with our families.  We always encourage them to participate in our programs and to stop in for visits and observations.  We see them as an integral part in our program success.
